Grand Plan to Fix Everything

Uma Krishnaswami’s Grand Plan to Fix Everything involves travel to India, Bollywood movies, movie stars and producers, romance…  at first it doesn’t sound much like a typical children’s book.  What makes this book work for young readers?

all time is the amazing Dolly Singh. Dini
and Maddie are excited to go to Bollywood dance camp together for two weeks over the summer, but then Dini’s mother drops a bombshell—they are moving to India for two whole years! The destination is not Mumbai. What a bad thing for the young girls! They can’t imagine what will happen after they leave each other.Do you interested in the following funny stories ? You would think that Dini’s obsession with Bollywood would awaken her interest when she realized her family was moving half way across the world. She would finally be close to her idol Dolly who is a Bollywood movie star! But this is not how things turn out at all. She felt farther away from her idol when she was in a tiny town in Maryland than where she moved to in India. Throughout the book the life she left behind leads Dolly to do some things that are highly out of character but in the end her move to India was meant to be. She was needed there not only for her idol Dolly but for many of the characters she meets along the way. Throughout the book you not only live the adventure of Dini, but from the very begining you are submerged into the Indian culture. This is a great story for any student who has just moved to, or is moving to a new place. I think it can inspire anyone to see that some times things turn out exactly how they are supposed to.
